ABOUT
ASK ME PROJECT
University of Malaya (UM) acknowledges the importance of students’ engagement in the community as holistic personal and professional development. Our researchers have demonstrated that, community involvement among undergraduates leads to improved academic and behavioral outcomes. Hence, UM has introduced a well-designed community engagement effort to allow our undergraduates to identify and understanding the adaptation, differing values and priorities, and differing frames of ways they view the community or a population group.

Through the subject GIG1005: Social Engagement, students are compulsory to undertake this course aims to provide more platforms for students to involve in community volunteerism. This considered as a type of lifelong learning plan that will help students adapting to their transformed generation and to develop their willingness to “give back to the community”. At the end of this course, students are able to raise the awareness of the public towards the importance of social engagement, develop teamwork skills and interactive skills.
